Throughout history, there have been many ruthless leaders that use force to gain power and control their people. Their objective, to hold absolute power by annihilating all enemies and those who oppose them. These cold-blooded dictators do not care for the value of others lives as much as they do for their own selfish motive of domination. Here are some of the most famous dictators throughout history.
Adolf Hitler
Adolf Hitler was born on April 20, 1889 in Braunau am Inn, Austria- Hungary, he is one of the ruthless dictators that "Big Brother" is based on. In 1934 Hitler became the leader of Nazi Germany. In 1933 the Nazi's created a dictatorship called the Third Reich which blocked all other political parties and gave Hitler absolute power. Hitler believed the world should only be composed of a "Aryan" race and that all Jews should be eliminated. He expressed these radical anti-Semitic beliefs in a book he wrote in 1925 while in prison called "Mein Kampf". To maintain his power Hitler used force and instilled fear in the German people. Armies and secret police like the SS and Gestapo were setup to eliminate and detain anyone who posses a threat to the party including 85 high ranking politicians/officials who were all assassinated during the "Night of Long Knives". His ruling generated the Second World War and the Holocaust, which caused over 17 million causalities including 6 million Jews.
Joseph Stalin
Joseph Stalin was born on December 18, 1878 in Gori, Russian Empire, he is also one of the brutal dictators that "Big Brother" was based on. He was the dictator of the Union of Soviet Socialist Republics (USSR) from 1929 to 1953. He is often regarded as one of the most evil men of the 20th century. Under Stalin's reign millions of his own people died from starvation, isolation, murder, and even being overworked. Food was a crucial commodity, so Stalin began collectivized farming and had any potential enemies killed or sent to labor camps. People began to realize that the were being manipulated by Stalin so many intellectuals and activists began movements, but before the could gain enough power Stalin began the "Great Purge", killing everyone who opposed him. His extreme use of terror and lies was so effective that the people of the USSR were wrongfully convinced that Stalin was the greatest leader who ever lived; millions publicly wept and mourned the death of Joseph Stalin on March 5, 1953. It is estimated that he is responsible for 20 million deaths during his brutal reign.
